Alongside the liberalization of electricity markets across Europe and the world, new business models have emerged, one of the most significant being the Virtual Power Plant (VPP). Instead of building additional capacity to balance energy production and consumption, VPPs aggregate and manage consumer-side demand in a coordinated way, dynamically increasing or decreasing the load on the power grid. From the perspective of the energy system, this has the same effect as activating additional generation capacity. This concept contributes to grid stability, resource optimization, and long-term support for sustainable development.


 

 


 

Power System Stabilization

Grid frequency control is stable when energy source fluctuations are minimized. By aggregating distributed energy resources within a Virtual Power Plant (VPP), it is possible to significantly contribute to the balance of the power grid. We connect small producers, energy storage units, and commercial and industrial consumers to our Virtual Power Plant, giving them access to profitable balancing markets. In the event of a frequency deviation, the VPP receives a request from the transmission system operator to either supply or reduce a specific amount of energy in order to neutralize the grid imbalance.

Flexibility refers to the ability to shift electricity production or consumption without disrupting the core function of an industrial process. Operators or asset owners define the boundaries within which a process is able to offer flexibility. In doing so, companies can optimize their energy flow schedules and generate revenue in areas that previously only incurred costs.
